Picture of me sanding my radio towerI'm not quite sure where to begin here. I've never been that great at writing about me. You'd think I would be since I know me the best, but anyway. I guess the photo is as good a place as any to start; so here we go.

The picture you see here was taken while I had the radio tower down to sand, repair, and paint it. It's 40 feet assembled, and I have 10 feet of mast on the top for a total of 50-ish feet. A Cushcraft AR-270B sits atop it. The whole thing needs to come down again so I can mount a rotor, and the Mosley TA-33 that is in storage up on it. But, that's a whole rant on to itself, so we'll just continue on.

When I'm not messing around with radio stuff, which has been less and less lately, I'm usually working on the computer or reading a book. The television rarely gets turned on except for hockey. During hockey session, I watch almost all the Philadelphia Flyers games and some of the other games on NHL Center Ice. I also go to a few Reading Royals (ECHL), and Hershey Bears (AHL), games. Every once in awhile, I'll drag myself down to Philly for a Phantoms (AHL) game and rarely for a Flyers game. The tickets for NHL games are just too much to justify going all the time. If the Flyers are out of the running, I root for the Ottawa Senators mainly because they are the only other team I've seen at their home stadium.

With regards to work, I've been involved with computers in one form or another ever since I started working. When I first started out I was involved in retail sales. I eventually moved up to fixing the hardware, and now I'm an administrator of Microsoft software. So far, it's been about seven years working as a systems administrator. I'm currently employed in the utility industry administrating parts of the corporate infrastructure (email, monitoring and anti-virus software, etc.). I'm looking to get some experience with Unix based systems because I need a change of pace (and it's something new to learn). To that end, I have three FreeBSD machines at home that serve up email (Postfix, Amavis, ClamAV, Maildrop, and Dovecot), web pages (Apache 2.0), and a firewall running PF and ALTQ with DHCP and caching DNS. I've also been playing around with IPv6 a little bit using Freenet6. It seems to work well, though I don't keep it up all the time and haven't had time to experiment much with it lately.

Lately, I've been spending a lot of time motorcycling. Somewhere around the being of June 2007, I got an used Honda Nighthawk 750. I'm having a blast on it, though I think I'll probably be moving up to something that is set up more like a cruiser if my current rate of use continues. It requires all my attention, which is great for forgetting about things like work. When I get on the bike it's just me, the bike and the road. I might try riding it into work in a month or so, once I've taken the Pennsylvania Motorcycle Safety Program (which is based on the MSF) and gotten more on the road experience. We'll see how I feel on the bike the end of July and go from there.
